HOOT was created by Melissa, a longtime coffee industry insider who began seeing coffee through a different lens.

For more than two decades, she worked at the highest levels of the coffee world—leading brand and product innovation for globally respected companies including Bodum, Melitta, and Espro. Her experience spans the full journey of coffee, from time spent on farms in Costa Rica and Brazil—learning each stage from harvesting coffee cherries to processing and cupping—to designing products, partnerships and retail activations for some of the most recognizable names in the category.

Coffee wasn’t just her career—it was her daily ritual.

But over time, Melissa noticed a disconnect. The very drink meant to energize the day often left people anxious, jittery, or depleted—including herself. As her own health journey deepened, she began asking a different question:
